7 Ways To Prevent/ Manage Body Odour

Body odour is important for everyone to consider because most people who have it do not even know-Except you tell them. Body odour, also known as Bromhidrosis happens at puberty because of increasing hormones called androgens. While sweat itself is virtually odourless, BACTERIA use it as a breeding ground and multiply rapidly. What you smell is the products related to bacteria breakdown of keratin protein on the surface of your skin. Body odour is usually associated with the armpits, however bacteria can also produce odour in the groin, anus area, upper thighs, and feet, among other places. Thoroughly washing your skin with a wet washcloth and soap — especially those areas prone to sweating — can help prevent body odour. If you want to be "odour-free" consider the following tips: 1. Apply an antiperspirant at bedtime. This gives the product a chance to work while you sleep and are not sweating. If you apply antiperspirants after showering in the morning, the sweat y

Obasanjo Speaks Again: "Jonathan’s Performance Below Average"

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has described the performance of President Goodluck Jonathan as far below average. He stated this on Friday while speaking with book writers in Abeokuta, Ogun State, as part of activities marking the popular Ake Festival. When asked of his view on Jonathan's administration so far, Obasanjo said: "His performance is below average. I will not accept responsibility for his performance. There is nobody that gets such a position without being helped." The former President also debunked the insinuations that he had selected Jonathan as the running mate to the late President Musa Yar'Adua because he knew the latter was sick. "Yar'Adua told me he was well. He showed me his medical report and I even consulted experts," he said. He said he had only supported the idea of a South-Southerner succeeding Yar'Adua to extend the sense of belonging that the emergence of a Southern President in 1999 represented. When the

Causes Of Hair Loss

Surveys say that one of the things that make people lose their confidence is hair loss. This is because many people cannot be confident in front and even around with others knowing that these people are openly staring into his or her bald spots. Experts say that hair loss or baldness can be inevitable to people especially if their families have a history of it. These people—whose genes came from older generations who are prone to hair loss— cannot really do much about it since the condition runs in their genes. But for those who don't have it in their genes and still lose so much hair, now is the time to worry. WHAT CAUSES HAIR LOSS? More and more people are becoming prone to hair loss because they don't pay much attention to the signs and symptoms of the condition. If you think you are prone to baldness, the first thing that you need to check—aside from the family's history of hair loss—is the number of strands of hair that you lose

Describing the Jonathan administration as the worst government ever in Nigeria, the party said so many Nigerians cannot wait to elect a better President that will have positive impact on them. The APC said: "Mr. President, Nigerians have asked themselves a simple question: Are we better off today than we were before President Jonathan assumed office, and they have unanimously answered in the negative. This is why your declaration failed to resonate, despite the hired crowds you ferried to Abuja." The party also said it has weighed the President's claims in his declaration speech against the reality on the ground and decided to present to Nigerians the true scorecard of President Jonathan in the critical spheres of life, including security, education, job creation, corruption, power sector, and

Intestinal Bacteria By-Products Can Trigger Heart Failure!!!

A chemical produced by intestinal bacteria has been linked to heart failure, according to a new study. The chemical and heart risk link has been established previously, but the association with bacteria is new. The chemical is called trimethylamine N-oxide (TMAO). The chemical has an association with heart disease. However, more importantly in the context of disease prevention, the chemical may prove to be significant as a signal for diagnostic tests for predicting future heart attacks. The connection between the chemical and bacteria came about after researchers tracked 720 heart failure patients over a five-year period. The researchers discovered that patients who had high levels of TMAO then they had more than a 50 percent mortality rate over 5 years. Taken this correlation, the researchers then found that TMAO is produced when certain intestinal bacteria (such as species of the bacterial genus Acinetobacter) digest certain dietary components that are found in red meat, egg

New Treatment Against Antibiotic Resistant Bacteria.

University of Liverpool microbiologists are working on a new treatment against antibiotic resistant bacterial infections. The treatment is designed to be an alternative to current antibiotics. The growing menace of antibiotic resistance is, arguably, the single biggest threat faced by the world's population. Some new research presents an encouraging new angle. The research is based on the use of specially engineered lipid (fat) bodies, called liposomes, These appear to prevent bacterial toxins from killing human cells. Liposomes are artificially-prepared spherical vesicles, they are often used to deliver drugs into the human body (as well as delivering of dyes to textiles.) A study has shown that bacterial toxins, produced by major human pathogens like Methicillin Resistant Staphlycoccus aureus (MRSA) can be neutralised if they bind to liposomes instead of human cells. Therefore, introducing liposomes into infection sites could confuse bacteria into binding to these artificia

How NANOFIBERS can help prevent HIV / AIDS!!!

Researchers have developed a special gel that is made up of a power virucidal chemical (to kill viruses) and a special nanofiber mesh. The device, designed to fit into a woman's body, can stop the transmission of the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). The risks associated with HIV infection are well known and having the virus can lead to AIDS-related diseases. To date there is no cure for HIV infection (although the virus can be suppressed in the body). There are various devices designed to minimize the risk of HIV infection through sexual intercourse. However, most of the anti-HIV drug delivery methods available are in the form of gels and suppositories. These tend to lack appropriate vaginal retention; they are also prone to medicine leakage; and often cause uncomfortable wetness. A team of researchers have developed a new device that overcomes these problems. Specifically the new device is made up of a microbicide that contains hyaluronic acid (HA) nanofibers. The dev

The final steps to be taken to eliminate worldwide POLIO

Polio has almost been eliminated from the world and just two countries remain endemic: Afghanistan and Nigeria, with cases also high in parts of Pakistan. A new report considers how the final steps can be taken to eliminate the disease. Bethesda - According to the World Health Organization (WHO), polio is nearly eradicated, with the number of cases limited to a few hundred each year. Poliomyelitis (polio) is an acute, viral, infectious disease spread from person to person, primarily via the fecal-oral route. In around one percent of infections, poliovirus spreads along certain nerve fiber pathways, preferentially replicating in and destroying motor neurons within the spinal cord, brain stem, or motor cortex. This leads to the development of paralytic poliomyelitis. With global cases there are two of the remaining endemic countries: Afghanistan and Nigeria. Health agencies are taking steps to eliminate the virus from these territories. The main obstacle to this, according to a rep
