South Korea has become the first east Asian country to legalise medical cannabis in a surprising move to expand the treatment options for patients with epilepsy and other rare diseases in the conservative country. The country’s national assembly approved amending the Act on the Management of Narcotic Drugs on Friday to allow non-hallucinogenic doses of medical marijuana. Still, using weed even for medical purpose will be strictly controlled with patients required to apply to the Korea Orphan Drug Centre, a government body facilitating patient access to rare medicines, after receiving a doctor’s prescription. Approval will be granted on a case-by-case basis, according to the country’s Ministry of Food and Drug Safety. After the recent postponement of the commencement of Orientation courses by NYSC from April 1st to April 27th, prospective corp members have therefore vowed to stage a Protest against the said authorities. Various notifications and awareness have been trailing round various social media by some aggrieved prospective corp members to this effect. The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has postponed to April 27, the three-week Batch A Orientation course earlier scheduled to start on April 1st. The date was previously postponed from February 28th to March 2nd to April 27th to April 1st and now April 27th. The new announcement was made on their official website. Abosede Aderibigbe, NYSC's director of press and public relations, made the confirmation while responding to an inquiry by TheCable. Prospective corps members were confused on Friday when a message started circulating online that the orientation programme had been postponed. A statement on the NYSC camp appeared to validate their fears, but there were against reports that the strange time table was the work of hackers who had supposedly gained access to the NYSC website. A declaration have recently been made by the National Universities Commission (NUC) that any student who wants to study medicine will henceforth spend a minimum of 10 years in the university. The Executive Secretary of the Commission, Prof. Julius Okojie made the declaration in a lecture delivered at the maiden matriculation and inauguration of the University of Medical Science, Ondo, Ondo State. Okojie, who was represented by the Deputy Executive Secretary of the commission, Prof. Chiedu Mafiana, said the development was imperative in order to enable the students mature psychologically for the profession.‎

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Lagos, Professor Rahamon Bello, disclosed today, during a pre-convocation press conference held at the institution's Senate Chamber that the overall best graduating student for the 2014/2015 sessions is graduating with the highest number CGPA of 5.0 on dot. This means the best graduating student, Ayodele Daniel Dada, who graduated from Department of Psychology, had "A" in all courses he took throughout his stay in the University. A female student of Lagos State university (LASU), from the department of history and International Relations was reported dead on Friday after attending a sent forth party. A‎midst wailing, the family members of the dead student whose corpse have been deposited at the Lagos State Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) stormed the university asking them to produce their child, they are however suspecting she was poisoned because of the blood that gushed out of her nose and mouth.
